IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL FOR ME?
With all clients, we require a consultation and patch test before moving forward with any laser hair removal treatments. Generally speaking, the LightSheer™ is suitable for all skin tones and pigmented hair, on almost all areas of the body.
Having said that, the LightSheer™ is not suitable for individuals with active infection or inflammation, viral, fungal, or bacterial disease. This includes active cold sores or open wounds in the area to be treated. Laser Hair Removal is also not meant for clients taking medication that has been classified as sun/solar sensitive. Bare has the right to refuse treatment on individuals they deem not suitable for laser hair removal.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET RID OF MY HAIR, PERMANENTLY?
All clients and areas treated, respond differently. On average, it typically takes about 6-8 sessions to achieve most clients’ desired results. Some clients have success in fewer treatments, some require more.
HOW LONG WILL MY SESSION/LASER TREATMENT TAKE?
The length of your session depends on the area(s) covered. Small area treatments can take as little as 10 minutes. Larger and multiple area treatments can take over 60 minutes.
CAN I SHAVE, WAX. SUGAR OR PLUCK BETWEEN TREATMENTS?
Unlike temporary forms of hair removal, you are able to shave right up until the day of, or day before treatment. However, you should not wax, pluck or sugar in between sessions at all, as this interrupts the hair growth cycle and could impact the quality and length required to achieve results.
CAN YOU TREAT CLIENTS WITH GREY OR WHITE HAIR?
Unfortunately, no. The laser is attracted to melanin in the hair follicles. Grey and white hair has little, or no pigment at all, so the laser is unable to target the follicle.
CAN I DYE MY WHITE OR GREY HAIR A DARK COLOUR, TO MAKE ME A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE?
Unfortunately, no. Hair dye does not increase the melanin in the follicle and will not be able to create synthetic melanin for the laser to recognize and treat.
WILL HAIR GROW BACK AFTER I HAVE COMPLETED ALL OF MY LASER HAIR REMOVAL SESSIONS?
Your hair will not grow back after the follicle has been damaged. However, there are always active an inactive follicles within each phase of hair growth, so at some point, clients may experience new hair growth. Consequently, some clients may need an occasional or annual maintenance session to achieve the best results.
DOES IT HURT?
Clients often compare the feeling to a slight rubber band snap on the skin. With the compression and cooling technology of the Chill Tip™, which works simultaneously with the laser pulses, clients have a more comfortable experience.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT POST-TREATMENT?
After your treatment, your skin may feel sensitive or warm to the touch, similar to a minor sunburn. You may experience swollen, raised or pinkish/red areas around the follicle. You may also notice black specs on your skin (these are singed hairs that will shed on their own within a few days after your treatment, with no exfoliation or encouragement needed). These are all positive clinical results and mean that the area is responding appropriately to the treatment.
You should avoid tanning beds and sun exposure for a few weeks after treatment, if this is not possible, please use a high SPF when in the sun for a number of weeks after your treatment, as skin may be more susceptible to burn (in treated areas), as a result of sun exposure and improper after care.
CAN I CONTINUE WITH MY REGULAR ROUTINE AFTER TREATMENT?
Many clients are treated during a lunch break and return to work immediately after treatment. The laser does not impose any harm to your skin that would prevent you from engaging in regular day-to-day activities. Depending on areas treated, you may choose to refrain from high levels of physical activity (running and some forms of high-intensity fitness), though this depends on the area treated and is a matter of personal client experience.
CAN I HAVE LASER HAIR REMOVAL IF I HAVE A TATTOO?
Laser Hair Removal should not be performed over tattooed areas of the body - the laser can disfigure tattoos, temporarily and permanently. Discuss what your options are with your Laser Hair Removal Technician, as this depends on the area and the preference of the client.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS? ARE THERE LONG-TERM SIDE EFFECTS?
Typically, there are no long term side effects associated with the diode laser system. In general with laser hair removal procedures, there have been a small number of cases of temporary hypo/hyper pigmentation (lightening or darkening of the skin), though these have been stated to be temporary and that skin pigment returns to normal shortly after. If you are using proper treatment after-care protocols, there should be no issue with this. There have also been some reports of minor burns associated with treatments; this is likely a result of improper use of the laser and improper technique of the technician performing the treatment. At Bare, we are trained and certified and our clinically proven laser system allows us to customize laser settings to precisely fit our clients skin and hair types.
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT FEEL LIKE?
Most people describe the sensation to be similar to an exfoliation treatment. Some areas can be sensitive, so a topical gel/numbing cream is applied to the area. This paired with the quick and gentle speed of the reciprocating needles quite effectively reduces discomfort during the treatment.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT?
You will notice an immediate ‘glow’ to the skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks . The results will continue to improve for up to 6 months after the treatment, as collagen production will also continue.
WHAT AREAS OF THE BODY CAN I TREAT?
Microneedling can be used on almost all areas of the body including the face, neck, decollete (chest area), arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
WHAT IS THE 'DOWN' TIME?
Immediately after the treatment your skin will be flushed (similar to a sunburn), for 24-48 hours. Some clients report no flushing after 24 hours, while some can take up to 72 hours. Some individuals experience mild tenderness, while others report no discomfort whatsoever. Avoid direct sun exposure, as this is fresh skin and highly likely to burn. Take appropriate precaution and wear a hat if you must be outdoors and apply a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher. It is best to avoid heavy creams and makeup for 24 hours after treatment. Your activity is not hindered in returning to your daily routine, wearing a light-mineral based make-up.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED TO ACHIEVE MY RESULTS?
Some only require a single treatment, once annually to achieve their desired results. However, a series of 2-3 treatments (spaced 6-8 weeks apart), is recommended to achieve optimal and long-lasting results. Individuals with deeper wrinkles, more severe skin concerns, stretch marks or acne scars should receive 6-8 sessions, spaced 6 weeks apart.
HOW LONG DO TREATMENTS TAKE?
A standard Microneedling treatment will take approximately 45-60 minutes. Though many choose to follow the treatment with LED light therapy. This will increase the length of the treatment.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR TREATMENT?
First, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and completely dried. The face is treated in sections, in which the area treated is pressed taut with one hand, and the other hand will hold a sterile 10 gauge blade at a 1-3 degree angle using short, swift strokes to scrape off dead skin cells and vellus hairs.
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT FEEL LIKE?
This is a painless treatment in which the sensation can be compared to that of shaving your legs. Most individuals state the treatment is very relaxing and rather enjoyable.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY TREATMENT?
Dermaplaning results are immediate. You will notice a smoother, brighter complexion upon completion of the treatment
WHAT IS THE DOWN TIME?
There is virtually no downtime with Dermaplaning. However, it is important to take appropriate precaution in the sun - be sure to wear a hat and an SPF sunscreen of at least 30. Your skin has been shed to reveal new, fresh skin which is extremely sensitive to the sun and has a high risk of burning.
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR DERMAPLANING?
This treatment is safe and effective on all skin types, however if you have deep cystic acne, wait until breakouts are clear before trying this treatment.
WILL MY PEACH FUZZ GROW BACK THICKER/DARKER?
No. Vellus hair will not grow back thicker. Though since they were planed, they will grow back with a blunt edge and may temporarily feel thicker to the touch, but will not appear thicker.
